Thanks nikkoaki. I took a look at the video and it gave me some ideas about where to look in the Gigabyte bios. As it turns out, Gigabyte has a few "standard" optimizations you can choose from. Based on this video, I chose one that seemed to more closely follow the Intel recommendations in order to reduce heat a bit. I can live with slightly less performance if the result is significantly less heat. When I tested, it still seemed like I'd occasionally see 100C spikes and I could still see some throttling, but I can live with that. Cheers!
