What are you using to decrypt your DVD?

"What are you using to decrypt your DVD?"
I don't understand your question. The source disk is a completely legal version of the TV series "House" Season 1, Disc 2.
An older version of Handbrake, 10.5.0, on older hardware, seems to be working fine.

You need MakeMKV to rip the disks before you use HB.

What I did
not say, is that HandBrake 1.7.3 DID WORK ON "House" Season 1,
Disc 1 .

Completely legal versions of a commercial TV series on DVD are always encrypted.

Depends on how you are decrypting your DVD’s.

Unreliable third party hacks? How would we know without an encoding log provided for Disc 1?

So all you nay-sayers, I was able to RIP all 3 discs from that set using -
libdvdcss-2.dll (MD5 3b41a830cf2794db096e55ec783b97b4)

Libdvdcss is not recommended because of the situations you are seeing. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
If you want to keep using it, go for it. Just don’t expect much help if you do.
As posted above it’s recommended you use a proper ripper like makemkv.

I forgot to mention, you also need nvEncodeAPI64.dll. I am embarrassed to say forgot where I download it from, but you can download it from my Gdrive

No, you don't need nvEncodeAPI64.dll
That is for Nvidia NVEnc and is part of the driver. It will be present on systems with Nvidia cards only.

HandBrake 1.7.2 (2023122400)
OS: Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.22631.0
CPU: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700KF

GPU Information:
AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT - 31.0.24027.1012

So... I don't have an Nvidia card. why am I still seeing this error?
My handbrake crashes about 5-10 seconds into ANY encode now and I have tried about a dozen different settings.

Because you don't have an nVidia driver installed. It's irrelevant to your actual issue.
