How can I try HB ver 1.6.1?

Post by markfilipak »

Description of problem or question:

I'm running Linux Mint.
Kernel: 5.4.0-164-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 9.4.0 Desktop: MATE 1.26.0 wm: marco dm: LightDM Distro: Linux Mint 20.3 Una base: Ubuntu 20.04 focal

Here's some terminal dialog:

Code: Select all

mark@mark-VirtualBox:~$ sudo apt install handbrake
[sudo] password for mark:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
handbrake is already the newest version (1.3.1+ds1-1build1).
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 5 not upgraded.
I know about flatpak but I don't know what it is, how it works, or what problems I might have. Better would be a '.deb'.

I'd like to try version 1.6.1 but how do I do it?

Note: I've searched my head off for days and can't find a way.

Thanks much.
Mark.

Thanks, I took each step but I ran into a problem:

Code: Select all

mark@mark-VirtualBox:~$ sudo apt install flatpak-plugin-cinnamon
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package flatpak-plugin-cinnamon
I run the Cinnamon desktop. What now?
