Hi
Ive just captured some uncompressed VHS footage DV The file size of the clip was 3.5GB (16 min:50 secs)
Handbrake suggests using RF20 for SD ( I used RF21) which gave me a file size of 427 Mb
Do you think that OK, as the bit rate of the H264 file 3400 Kps is that a really high for SD
Can i push the RF up higher, should I or will quality deteriorate) or is that reserved for HD only

Re: DV Video encoding help
First update your version of Handbrake.
Then try encoding with different RF values and see which one works for you.

Re: DV Video encoding help
Home video capture on old camcorder are noisier and shaky, they will require more bitrate than a clean professional recording.
