Hello,
As you can see I have a very important question regarding the origins of the Handbrake name. As a car enthusiast, a handbrake is used as an emergency brake to stop the rear wheels of a car (and to cause it to drift!). I am curious why this was chosen as the name of the software.
It doesn't seem to be mentioned in Handbrake lore either...

Thanks for any info y'all can provide!

Now it makes sense why the logo is a cocktail. And why it says: Put down that cocktail... when encoding is finished.
Thanks for the explanation.
