An Unknown Error has occurred.

I would appreciate any hints as to how I should troubleshoot. I have tried basic uninstall and clean-up strategies, such as deleting the contents of the temp folder, restarting, etc. I do not have any indications of faulty memory on the machine. HandBrake 1.0.7 (2017040900) - 64bit, previously installed, last worked 29-03-2018.

Description of problem or question:
After installing Handbrake [HandBrake-1.1.0-x86_64-Win_GUI.exe], Handbrake opens with a Handbrake error dialog titled, An Unknown Error has occurred.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

Double-click on the desktop icon to start program.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):
Handbrake [installed from HandBrake-1.1.0-x86_64-Win_GUI.exe downloaded from 16 May 2018]

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):
Windows 10 Pro x64 v1803
registry shows .net framework version 4.7.03056 installed, release 461808

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8400 CPU @ 2.80GHz
Ram: 8055 MB,
GPU Information: Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630 -
Screen: 2560x1440
Temp Dir: C:\Users\Bruce\AppData\Local\Temp\
Install Dir: C:\Program Files\HandBrake

HandBrake Activity Log ***required*** (see How-to get an activity log)
There is no current activity log, as the program never starts.
