I know a lot of factors contribute to encoding speed. But I was just curious what the fastest SD encode someone has experienced.
I'm getting about 211 fps with from a DVD ISO using the "Normal" preset. (Mac Pro [mid 2010] 12-core 2.66GHz)

With a computer as fast as yours (mine is only a Core i5 Quad iMac), I would be tempted to settle for the Normal preset's 200 fps (or rather, keep using my current "actual encode" settings, which are a fair bit slower). 200 fps is still about 8x realtime and gives you reasonably good compression efficiency.

Core i7 860. Not bad for a complete 4:3 DVD (4 or 5 episodes of The Twelve Kingdoms anime). I only use these settings to quickly generate a file that I can use to find the right chapters for shows that don't have separate titles for each episode.
Those settings produce files about twice the size as my normal encoding settings, which encode at around 60FPS. I might be able to get faster results by dropping a few settings, but I've found in practice that by doing so I drop my CPU utilisation rather than increasing speed.
For reference, the normal (anime) settings are:
CRF: 20
