Carry over timed-text track in MP4 re-encodes

Post by kogyaru »

I've got a bunch of high-quality encodes via HB that have, as part of the original DVD->MP4 process, a timed-text track from the DVD's CC track.

When I reencode those MP4s to an iPhone (and, hopefully, iPad) target, the timed-text tracks aren't carried over -- they don't appear in the subtitles area. Sure would save me some effort if HB could offer a means to do so. As it is, I have to use mp4box to extract the TTXT, re-encode the video in HB, then mp4box again to readd the TTXT.

Can QT Pro solve this for you? Open original file, Apple-J, copy sub track, open converted file, paste, save?

mp4box is quicker, but HB doing it natively is the fastest.

(I have ... a lot... of 6-7 minute classic cartoons. I'd get CTS doing the QT route.)

Subler is great, but I would rather see HB keep the existing timed-text track across MP4 re-encodes.
