DVD drive grinding on Macbook C2D with HB 0.8.5b1

Post by eiscir »

Hi all.
Mediafork was working fine on my Macbook (2Ghz C2D, 1GB), but since i installed the new handbrake this morning it takes ages to scan the disc in the drive, and ripping is very, very slow, with the DVD drive constantly making grinding noises, not spinning smoothly. any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Same DVD title? Try it.

And do you know if your MacBook's optical drive is made my Matsu[Censored]a?

It's a [Censored] UJ-857D DL superdrive, and the same thing happens with every dvd.

If Mediafork works but the new Handbrake 8.5b1 does not, I can't speak to that.

If Mediafork also now has trouble with your disks ... invest in an external FireWire case and get another DVD burner. The reason I asked about yours is because the newer Apple laptops use [Censored] drives, which are known to be crappy rippers.
