Is there a possibility to tell handbrake to split output file. E.g. maximum file size 1 GB?

Sorry, no, there isn't. All available options are listed in the help.

Unlikely to happen unless someone takes an interest. Best look for 3rd party tools for this.

you can define a range of chapters to rip, so you can do 2 jobs - this gives a better control about the point, where your movie is cut...
