m2ts encoding stops mid-way

Post by MRothman »

Using svn2325 i386 (2009041301) I was encoding bluray version of Madagascar, and all was good until it just stopped mid-way through. Seems to think that it ran into an EOF, but unclear if that is actually true. It did figure there was 80 minutes or so of footage, but what was output was roughly 40 minutes of the data.

Will try it again, but since it takes sooo long to try this out - maybe someone else has also encountered this.

Thanks,
Mike

By the way - the above is fully reproducible. At least on what I was trying to do, it stopped the 2nd time at exactly the same time.

Thanks,

I just encoded my bluray madagascar with no problems using svn 2349. But looking at your log, I'm wondering if its possible they are different releases. Mine doesn't even have a 00003.m2ts. It has 0, 1, 2, then jumps to 36. 0 is the feature. What did you use to rip the disc. I'm using AnyDVD version 6.5.4.0.

I was using the prior version of the AnyDVD. I can always try again with the latest (which I recently upgraded to).

Let me correct one minor statement I made above. It wasn't Madagascar, it was Madagascar 2 that I seem to have issues with. In the process of ripping/trying again with the latest AnyDVD utility in the off-chance that makes a difference (since I've been encoding just fine other sources with that same utility and the SVN version of Handbrake).

Also - just in case folks run into this - am curious how prevalent this is. I ripped my Hell Boy 2 Blu-ray and was highly annoyed to see (considering I paid a premium for the disc) a normal VIDEO_TS track and no M2TS data whatsoever. And yes, when looking at the VIDEO_TS data, it was only the standard 720X480 content.  :(

Thanks,
Mike

I have had no problems with either of this discs using AnyDvD > ClownBD > Handbrake. Both came out great at 720p.

As for you Hellboy 2 disc, try it in a DVD player, if it works then it's not a blu-ray disc. Also I have noticed that some of the newer blu-rays have a 480p version of the movie on the disc, why it's producing a DVD structure I don't know.

Make sure you are preping the blu-ray files correctly too.
