Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
Unless I'm mistaken the air date is the release date, which should be writeable with Subler.
Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
Depends on what is meant by "release date." For television programs, it is the date the episode originally aired on broadcast and/or cable.
Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
I use release date for the date the program first aired in the US, or when the movie was first released to theaters in the US.belloq wrote:Depends on what is meant by "release date." For television programs, it is the date the episode originally aired on broadcast and/or cable.
Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
I don't see "release date" in Subler. Or are you saying that's how you'd define it?nightstrm wrote:I use release date...

Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
Sorry, I went by the naming used by mp4v2. In subler it is just called 'Date'.
Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
The "Date" annotation in Subler translates to "Year" in iTunes. I entered a date in Subler (2/29/2009) and then Year iTunes showed "3529." When I modified the year to "2009" in iTunes, Subler showed this change in the Date annotation.
So "Date" is not the same as "Air Date" In fact, I only see "Air Date" appear on the AppleTV. I do not believe it even is displayed anywhere in iTunes.

Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
Try YYYY-MM-DD.
Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
Okay, yyyy-mm-dd works for iTunes. I'll have to wait for a few hours to see if this appears as "Air Date" on the AppleTV.
Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
It does for me!belloq wrote:Okay, yyyy-mm-dd works for iTunes. I'll have to wait for a few hours to see if this appears as "Air Date" on the AppleTV.
Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
Okay, so, the short answer is "yes," inputting the date in yyyy-mm-dd format works. Sort of.
I put 2004-12-01 in the Date field, and 2004 appears in iTunes. However, on the AppleTV, it shows 11/30/2004.
Huh?
I looked at a purchased episode of LOST and can see the date format looks like it contains the GMT offset or Zulu time:
I've not yet resync'd the episode to see if that does the trick. Rather strange way to do it, though...

Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
Holy crap the HD tag where did that come from? wow (I am guessing it has been there for ages and I am late at noticing it )
Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
A new build it up. There aren't many changes, the most notable one is that you can add an artwork now.
Please try to update it using sparkle. It worked for me, but I want to be sure.

Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
For me no notification of new version comes up.
Still, if artwork is the only change I'll pass on this one. Until drag & drop is supported I'm mostly covered.
EDIT: In the end I downloaded the new version, but Sparle never notified me. If it has worked for others I assume it's a problem of my machine.

Sparkle worked for me!
Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
sparkle works fine here
Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
I did not receive notification of an update upon opening Subler, but manually doing a "Check for Updates" from the menubar brought up the Sparkle window and installed without any problems.
Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
On launch on two machines, I was prompted to update. Worked great.
Thanks for making some of the requests I submitted. Cleaner.
Looking forward to some of the feature requests to make the GUI cooler and faster/easier to use. I appreciate this app!

Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
I am trying to implement some text style like italic, bold, underline.
Right now srt tag <i> is converted to italic. And is displayed on quicktime 7.6 and appletv.
I need it to be tested on an iPod Nano and Classic (and maybe other with subtitles support) and iPhone/iPod Touch.
A version of subler with this new feature is on http://drop.io/dgalass/asset/subler-test-italic-zip
Thanks to all those who'll try it

Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
New version 0.8a8. http://code.google.com/p/subler/
Partial release note:
Experimental tracks import from mov and new mp4 file creation
It's now possibile to create new mp4 file in Subler and import tracks from mov file. Tested with H.264 (with avc1 fourcc, broken H.264 from avi is not supported), AAC, AC-3, 3GPP Text Subtitles, SRT Subtitles (created with perian) and Chapters.
Content Rating writing support is now enabled.
Update stik value.
Subtitle text styles
Text style from srt are converted to the correspective tx3g styles. Supported styles are: italic, bold, underline. The actual style displayed depends on the player.
Bug fixes
Fixed a major regression with UTF-8 characters that caused problems in QuickTime
I forgot to rename the menu item for mpeg-4/mov importing, oh well…

Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
I think Subler's outgrown its name ;pRitsuka wrote:Experimental tracks import from mov and new mp4 file creation

Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
So, are you saying that subler can now mux mp4 files from raw h264, aac, and ac3 streams? If so, you've just made subler into the tool for mac that I've been looking for for months!Ritsuka wrote: Experimental tracks import from mov and new mp4 file creation

Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
Not from raw. But from mov/mp4. And from mkv or ac3 if you save them as mov from quicktime (a reference file is enough).

Wonderful. Thank you, Ritsuka!Ritsuka wrote:Not from raw. But from mov/mp4. And from mkv or ac3 if you save them as mov from quicktime (a reference file is enough).
Re: Subler (like Muxo, maybe better?)
This is great! Now one can make seamless mp4 packages from various mkv sources without encoding, hence the 64-bit support!Ritsuka wrote:Not from raw. But from mov/mp4. And from mkv or ac3 if you save them as mov from quicktime (a reference file is enough).
It seems to keep the anamorphic flags of imported video too.
