Looks like you are trying to encode the file right from the DVD. It also looks like it is hanging on Title 11. (Easier way) I'd use the 'Mac The Ripper' application and just extract Title 1 to your desktop. After you extract just Title 1, point HB to that folder and not your DVD. If you don't want to do that and you are dead set on just copying from the DVD itself, (Harder way) then I'd copy the movie using the handbrake command line interface and restrict it to just title 1.

Having the same problem, HandBrake just sits on "scanning disk". I tried an older version of HB with no luck. Next I tried using MTR to extract the volume to a hard disk but MTR can not read the disk either.

I'm having the same problems with both handbrake and 2.66 of mactheripper. I'd like to get the apple tv output; anyone have a command line input that will work?

Thanks!

Which version of MTR are you using? I was unsuccessful with MTR 2.6.6.

Dynaflash has it right. Thanks, I completely forgot about that.

Racemize, your command would be something along the lines of

./HandBrakeCLI -i /Volumes/(DVD Title) -o ~/Desktop/Movie.mp4 --preset=AppleTV -t 1

Additional CLI info is found here http://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/CLIGuide

If that doesn't work, and there's a similar DRM to the one used on the Wall-E dvds, I'd recommend using either DTOX or the current MacTheRipper 3.0 beta to rip the disk. Try to play the disk in VLC first to figure out which title is the one you want to rip. This dvd will be so popular, it's hard to say what type of crazy DRM is on it...

I have successfully ripped DK with HandBreak 0.9.3. Simply choose File-> Open Source(Title Specific). Then have enter title 1 and you should be good to go.

MacTheRipper 3.0 14m will not rip The Dark Night. It doesn't even get past the scanning phase. No one in their forums has been successful at ripping it.

RipIt ripped the disk with no problem, however HandBrake crashes when it scans the VIDEO_TS directory on my hard drive.

Thanks nacheen, worked fine for me, now on to Mac the Ripper m14. Maybe someone has figured how to rip the whole disc by now. :D

Do the Open Source Title Specific and make sure you have the latest VLC on your machine. It worked for me.

I was able to rip The Dark Knight with the latest version of RipIt (3.1.4) and scan with the latest version of Handbrake using the GUI. However, the file I got had Chapter One repeated many times, adding 38 minutes to the start of the movie. This happened whether I did a full scan or just got title 1.

Handbrake did something similar on RipIt's output of Wall-E (repeated the intro for 5 min). I didn't have that problem with The Dark Knight, but I used Fairmount instead of RipIt.

Interesting. For Wall-E, I ripped the DVD on my PC with AnyDVD, transferred it to my Mac, and ripped. AnyDVD may well be ahead of RipIt here

hey, just incase you are like me and new to this stuff, here's what I did:

do as nacheen said, and File-> Open Source(Title Specific).

Then select the DK disc at which point it'll ask you which title, you put in title 1 and away it goes. Also, I had to update my VLC before it would work, all you have to do is open your applications and select VLC, it'll automatically figure out it's not up to date and prompt you to fix it.

This worked for me using the latest/greatest CLI:

Code: Select all

 HandBrakeCLI -i /Volumes/THE_DARK_NIGHT/VIDEO_TS/ -o cd.avi -t 1 -a 1 -S 1400 -2 -E lame -B 256 -R 44.1
If you try to scan the DVD for title info (i.e. -t 0) then you'll get stuck. Just use title 1 and you're good to go.

Goodluck!

i was able to use Handbrake 0.9.2 on The Dark Knight (via "title 1" process) but the first half of the film's audio is out of sync. then at nearly the exact halfway point, it comes back in sync. i even tried encoding it using various presets and each version has the exact audio sync problem. as a test of the file, i also dumped it into iTunes, quicktime, & VLC, for good measure. still out of sync.

any suggestions?

thank you,

L

ps-thank you to the handbrake team. your work is appreciated

Same here, Lytez.
Running Mac OS 10.5.5 & HB 0.9.2: had a "successful" rip but video lags audio by about 1.5 secs.
Also had (different) issues with Wall-E.
Thoughts?
