What i could found in the gtk gui for linux is if you select the Preset for AppleTV Bring to Audios AAC(faac), AC3(pass-thru) if you leave as it's the Encoding Stops but if you remove the AC3(pass-thru) the Encoding works great.

Thanks Guys.

I don't know what the cause is, but this:
[21:23:15] sync: avcodec_open failed
indicates that that we failed to create a silent ac3 frame which is used for inserting silence into the output ac3 track.
The only inputs to the failing function that should matter here are bitrate, samplerate and channel count, which all look ok in the log.

Have you verified that this also happens with the CLI. Just to be sure it's not something I borked in the gui.
Options should be something like:
HandBrakeCLI -Z AppleTV -i /media/Extra/Firebird_Adventure.iso -t 6 -o /home/xanders/Videos/Le60Nnw1.m4v -v

John I think I found the Problem or the situation on the GUI or the CLI.
I use the 3 Snapshot build and a hand build and both make the make issue.

the problem is with some titles on the DVD's for example, when you select a title and go to the Audio/Subtitles section in the Track Drop Down is showing "Unknown (AC3) (5.1 ch)" if you try to rip that title handbrake stops encoding but never stops.

John Thanks for the Help.

John, I do more testing using the CLI and the problems is the same and is with (AC3) Audio if i add that audio track to the title that i'm going to rip the CLI Stops Encoding.

I use a Different Source to discard that was the source.
I can do more testing if you want. let me know if i can help.

for some weird reason yasm (0.7.1) is not providing the right info to Handbrake for using the Correct CPU capabilities. if you know something about it let me know Thanks John.

xanders, the most useful thing you could do would be to provide me a short clip of the problem stream. You can do this with mplayer. Something like:

Code: Select all

mplayer dvd://6 -dvd-device /media/Extra/Firebird_Adventure.iso -dumpstream -dumpfile test.vob
Unfortunately, mplayer will not honer the -endpos option when copying a stream, so you will have to ctl-c when you have enough. To trim the vob down more afterwards you can:

Code: Select all

dd if=test.vob of=out.vob bs=1M count=15
That would trim to 15MB which should be plenty. You can post that on localhostr.com, then post the link here.

Thanks

Yeah sure I'll help you with that but.

One Question this is a Back-up (with kids is better have a back-up, you never know what could happen) of My Commercial DVD "TV Show for Kids" that I own.
this could bring any legal issues with DVD rights or something?

let me know

Thanks John.

If you are in the United States, breaking the encryption on the DVD you own already brings you into a legal grey area...

Well the use of a short clip is almost always considered fair use. If your concerned about a strict interpretation of the dmca, then you would be in violation simply by circumventing the css for your private backup. Strangely, sharing a clip isn't usually a problem. The dmca specifically calls out circumvention as a violation. Aside from that, normal fair use doctrine should apply.
The size of the clip is so short that there isn't likely any interesting content anyway.

EDIT: Fyi, the grey area nightstorm refers to is that the dmca also states that the encryption mechanism can't be obvious or easy to circumvent. It is debatable if css is obvious. Hasn't really been tested in a court case.

Well, I couldn't reproduce the problem with the sample. Could you try this sample as the source of an encode and see if you have the same problem with it. If you still see the problem, then the only thing I can think of is that you've got some kind of build problem. You might try doing a clean build. It's sometimes helpful to run ldd on the binary to make sure it didn't dynamically link in some system library in place of one from the contribs.

Problem solved, I deleted the Handbrake folder and get recent and works again.

but one weird one was i use the snapshot 3 build and do the same thing. let me test again with the snapshot 3 and i let you know the results.

Thanks John and All
