Recoding 4K/HDR to 1080p/HDR possible?

Is it possible to recode 4K/HDR-content to for example 1080p but to keep the HDR-information? I've only tried "converting" HDR-content to SDR with Handbrake earlier, by using the colorspace-filter.
I am no expert in this HDR-stuff so excuse me if the terminology is bad. :)

I do this often. I just use the 10 bit H.265 encoder, with the following Options:

Encoder Tune: none
Encoder Profile: Auto
Encoder Level: Auto

Reencoding a UHD source to 1080p HDR works like a charm for me.
