Is my analysis phase too long or not ?

Post by Alomphega »

Hello all !

Description of problem or question:

My Handbrake runs on Windows with an i7 last generation, 64 Gb RAM, NVidia 4060, and my videos stay within a Synology NAS.
All works fine and I'm very happy with the results !

BUT I wonder if my analysis phases is "normal" or if I have to optimize some settings,
since I tried to convert a folder with 687 ".TS" videos in it for MP4 ones and Handbrake analysis is running now still almost 24 h and the job is yet just 378 video analyzed for 28% of the total job...

Do you think this looooong time working job is right,
or have I set something wrong (almost all are default settings except some naming convention) ?

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

No real problem, just a question to know more about Handbrake software and how to better use it.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.8.2
(the last nowadays)

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

Windows 11 Family, always last updates done.

HandBrake Activity Log ***required*** (see How-to get an activity log)
More of 150000 chars within the message if I paste logs, sot you'll find it there, hoping I'm not wrong on the process :

Code: Select all

Thank you very much !

High latency, low bandwidth storage ain't gonna be fast scanning all those videos.

Your streams all appear to have issues with them as well, so it's having to do an awful lot of additional seeking which seems to be blowing out the amount of time it's taking. It does appear to be getting though it though.

I'd be inclined to run them though a stream repair tool before running though HandBrake as I'm not sure if those will encode properly or not.

Many thanks for your answers.
I guess, reading you if I understand what you say, this behavior is "normal" as I use my LAN and my also NAS...
So again thank you very much for your confirmation !

Hello all,

Me again on the same topics, trying to solve it in the best way...

Today the analysis is finished, and since yesterday evening the convert has begun : I'm on the 80th file on 686... Well, 5 days left at least.

Knowing I have already exported the queue,
is there a way to stop this process (for instance for restarting the computer)
then to re-start it without the need of to re-do the whole analysis ?

Thank you very much for your time helping me !

Cordially,
Guy
