New PC with mostly ASUS ROG components just formatted with almost nothing else installed crashes a few seconds into every encode...
New system has an AMD GPU and I was trying to take advantage of the AMD VCE encoders and now Handbrake crashes/fails every encode! I had done a few encodes on my new system without any issues. I noticed a new setting (AMD VCE) that I didn't have on my previous system and decided to try it out. I was amazed when I converted a 24min anime show in about 2 min and the quality was equal or better then my previous settings that took about 20-30min with standard H.265. I noticed in the output file there were a few scenes that were pixilated so I wanted to try the encode again with it set for quality over balanced to see if it would clean up the distortion. Since the first use trying the AMD VCE setting I have not been able to get Handbrake to successfully complete an encode consistently with ANY settings now. I have since tried re-installing both handbrake and Windows 11 with results only becoming worse!
Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):
I have un-installed and re-installed Handbrake 1.5.0, 1.6.1, and 1.7.3 and noticed the older versions seem to get a little bit further into the encode before the app fails/crashes. I have reformatted and tried getting Handbrake to work on a freshly installed Windows 11 Pro OS with no success. Both before and after windows updates to see if the issue was resolved. I currently have all the latest updates from Windows update to include Preview builds. I have the latest drivers from AMD for my GPU using the AMD auto detect. Encodes using the standard x265 or 10-bit x265 sometimes get 60% complete before the app crashes or the encode fails. Using the AMD VCE settings the encodes fail only a few seconds into the encode. 90% of the time the app crashes, about 10% the encode just fails and the log says encode failed. Cannot seem to reliably/consistently get Handbrake to complete an encode successfully with ANY settings now! Not sure why the first time I was able to encode a season of a show (9 episodes) in about 20min with these settings first attempt and now I can't complete a single encode. PLEASE advise, I'd REALLY like to take advantage of my GPU after seeing what it's capable of, but now, can't even get an encode to complete with the most basic settings.
