Overwrite Destination

Post by mrtoner »

Description of problem or question:

Wondering where the option is to overwrite destination? I'd like to turn that off.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

I converted a file (File A) from an SD card to an external drive. I then converted two files (File A and File B) from another SD card to the same external drive — Handbrake overwrote the first File A. The recording hardware I use (a Blackmagic HyperDeck) names its files with an incrementing number rather than a timecode or datecode, so I usually rename before converting; I didn't in this case.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.7.2

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

macOS Sonoma 14.2.1

Handbrake does warn you that you’re about to overwrite a file with the same name. And it gives you the option to continue or cancel.

Ah, I see my confusion: the warning doesn't tell you explicitly that the destination file already exists. Because I had chosen Add to Queue and received the warning, I had mistaken the warning as informing me that source files in the queue would be overwritten.
