A friend of mine has a MacBook Pro 16" 2020 (Intel 6-core i7, 32GB RAM). Last week he upgraded to macOS Sonoma (previously he had Monterey installed), and since then, he has the following problem: When he tries to convert videos using Handbrake, he can't work on anything else simultaneously. The entire system gets blocked by Handbrake, and when he checks the Activity Monitor, he sees that all processor cores are at 100% utilization.
When he was using Monterey, he noticed that the MacBook was of course busy too, but he could still perform tasks like writing emails, browsing the internet, and opening/editing Pages documents with almost normal speed.
Is Handbrake not well optimized for Sonoma? Is there a way to limit Handbrake's usage of the processors? Additionally, he thinks that the conversion process takes noticeably longer since the macos-update, despite the processors being fully utilized.
is there is a solution for this issue? Thanks in advance!
