Convert 5.1-7.1 to Dolby Atmos

Post by Galdorf »

Is there some way to convert positional 5.1 or 7.1 to Dolby Atmos since Dolby Atmos is now going to be the standard in the music industry and movie industry i am set up for Atmos on my computer as well.
Atmos is a 2 channel system that does 3d i have a pair of Atmos headphones as well so i need to convert my video library from 5.1-7.1 to Atmos i see many posts going the other way around but not 5.1-7.1->Atmos is there any other software i might need or can Handbrake do this? or FFMpeg?.

Apple as well as Spotify is now in Dolby Atmos all music producers now are being told they need to submit Dolby Atmos tracks as well and most movies now have Atmos no need to have multiple speakers all over the room it can be done on 2 speaker system/soundbar.

You want to create height that doesn't exist in the source... good luck with that.

I don't think there is any open source software that can encode Dolby Atmos.

I’m sure Dolby will sell software that will encode to Atmos :D

I think the problem will be that your source doesn’t contain any of the spatial information so it will be pointless anyway.

Well it does carry right, left, front, back, center and all the points in-between it only does not have height and depth i am sure an AI program could fill these in.

Is there any other format i could use without using more than 2 speakers or headphones?
