Bug with obscure error message when registering for Forum

Post by decard »

Registering Forum Account

i had all sorts of problems even registering this account. wasted hours of trying.

kept getting obscure and unclear error message "The solution you provided was incorrect"

i eventually twigged and realised that this may be something to do with a pop-up blocker (although there was nothing to say that)

so i turned off Privacy Badger, and lo and beyold, registration worked - ALTHOUGH there was NO pop-up!!!

this bug shoud be fixed: it basically just needs to change that error message

Not sure your request is going to be "fixed", because recaptcha is becoming very popular. Your "pop-up" blocker is likely refusing to load the google.com code necessary to do the authentication, so your request is considered invalid. Just removing the block "fixed" it.

This is actually one of the LEAST offensive fixes I've see to registration blocks, because it takes place behind the scenes. The multiple "choose the parts that aren't like other parts" pictures are obnoxious.
