Is it possible to deinterlace 50i to 50p?

Post by HFR48 »

Hi

I have a lot of 1080 50i videos from my AVCHD camcorder. Now I'm compiling the videos into mp4 files to share them with friends and family. The usual procedure is to deinterlace the videos to 25p. But with that I lose motion-resolution. This leads to the fact that the videos no longer appear as smooth as before. Therefore I want to deinterlace the videos to 50p to keep the full motion-resolution. Is this possible with Handbrake? If so, what settings do I need to make? (My previous attempts did not work).

Thanks for the help!

Yes, choose the bob interlace method.

Also set your frame rate to “same as source” or “50” or higher or the bob deinterlace will not work with the defaults
