CPU usage - Single Core Only (Win 11 2022H2)

Description of problem or question:

My Handbrake encodes used to use about 60-70% CPU from all cores on Windows 10/11 prior to Win 11 2022H2 update.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior, is it possible there is a setting that got changed somewhere in Windows during the update?

That's indeed odd. Sadly I am not Windows-savvy enough to think of something. but others might.

Your encode logs all have similar encode speeds, how are you measuring cpu usage?

System Monitor II - AdGadgets

Yah I noticed the encode speeds (fps) were similar also. Maybe just something changed in the way Windows 11 22H2 is handing out threads.

What does Task Manager say about your CPU usage?

Performance Monitor matches the data from AdGadgets System Monitor II.
When I do a simultaneous encode of HandbrakeCLI and HandbrakeGUI I all but one core running 60-70% (CLI) and one core at 100% (GUI). When the CLI job finishes it is back to a single core at 80% and the reset < 5%. Just something different about how Windows 2022H2 is handling GUI. Before the update both CLI and GUI behaved the same.

Performance wise though you are getting about the same speed encoding with both the GUI and CLI so I’m not sure if there is any issue with handbrake.
