So what exactly do you want to know?

Handbrake is an OPEN SOURCE video transcoder. HandBrake leverages tools such as FFmpeg, x264, and x265 to create new MP4, MKV, or WebM video files.

Yes, HB supports a variety of open and proprietary formats.

i'm not understanding how this relates to my question,

does handbrake as an OPEN SOURCE video transcoder, create open file format files, or proprietary file format files? or both?
