Hi
I have many DVDs containing movies and TV shows I would like to convert to MP4. I've read many articles on what the best sane settings should be, and I thought I'd get some opinions from people with more experience then me.

For those that are still on physical disks, you will want a tool for extracting the video. Handbrake itself does not contain an extraction tool, although some people attempt to add one.
One of the more popular ones is MakeMKV.

I started off with presets, I'm just refining the settings and wanted opinions.rollin_eng wrote: ↑Wed Sep 21, 2022 12:18 pm Use the preset that best suits your needs.

I use MakeMKV first already, then handbrake to compress it down while holding as much quality as possible.

Re: Opinion on settings
Because from reading many articles, the preset settings can be further improved for DVD specific content.

Don't believe everything you read.
Try the presets then post if you have any issues.

My advise is to try the presets then post if you have any issues
Re: Opinion on settings
My personal experience is the built-in presets like HQ 480p are far better considered than 99% of youtuber/blog content.
