MKV file renaming

Description of problem or question:

When I rename a MKV file, the file name hasn't changed when I open it,


Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):




HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):




Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):




HandBrake Activity Log ***required*** (see How-to get an activity log)

Code: Select all

Can you please be a bit clearer with your issue.

Are you saying handbrake doesn’t name your output file correctly?

Could you please post your encode log.

No...when I open the file, it still has the original title even after I rename it.

The title and file name are two different things.

Sorry...like how to edit a submitted post, I don't know how to post a log file.

OK...when I rename a File, like "12 Mighty Orphans" to "Orphans", when I open it it still says "12 Mighty Orphans"...kinda like once you submit a post here it can't be changed...

The title is metadata. You can change it using mkvtoolnix using the edit header editor

And in HandBrake, there is a checkbox to enable/disable passthrough of common medatata, I cannot remember whether it controls this or not though.

Thanks...I'll try one with the box checked, one without.
I have since found some MKV files that show the title change, and many that do not. Weird.

The ones that have the change don't have title info in the metadata so the player defaults to the filename
