Video locking up for seconds through video

Post by Ghestal »

Description of problem or question: After the video is encoded my video plays back with areas that lock up for split second. There will be multiple of these in the video. Its almost like a hiccup instead of the video being smooth on playthrough.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable): Encode the video

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0): 1.4.2 (2021100300)

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update): Windows 10 19043.1415

Code: Select all

PHandBrake 1.4.2 (2021100300)
OS: Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.19043.0
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core Processor
Ram: 32689 MB,
GPU Information:
  NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti - 30.0.14.9729
Citrix Indirect Display Adapter - 12.40.44.247
Screen: 1920x1080

What are you playing the file with? Local or across a network? Does the audio continue, and just the video stutters? Do the problems occur a the same place each time you play it, or do they change?

Does the source have the same issue?

The file is uploaded to youtube, but these lock ups seem to happen at random times. Its more like a stutter than a lockup. Is there a way for me to provide video evidence of what is going on?

What are you playing the file with? Windows media player or any other player.

Local or across a network? Both

Does the audio continue, and just the video stutters? Audio stutters along with video.

Do the problems occur a the same place each time you play it, or do they change? It seems random

Does the source have the same issue? No the source does not have the same issue. The video is fine before encoding and only locks up or stutters after encoding.

There are multiple possibilities. Playing the file from a local hard drive with a decent player (fast decoder) will usually show if the file itself is bad. A bad file will have glitches at the same place, regardless of how many times you play it.

When the glitches move around, though, that is usually a sign that the decoder in the player is not receiving data fast enough, or that it cannot process the stream fast enough. A Ryzen-based system should not have issues with decoding the stream as long as the data arrives, but it can't fix an interrupted or too-slow stream.

Im sorry I misunderstood. Yes the lock ups happen at the same point in time. Everytime I play the video the skip, lockup, or whatever is at the exact time stamp. It does it with every video I run through Handbrake. Maybe I dont have the settings right or whatever. I record through Nvidia software such as Nvidia experience. If I dont do it through the encoder my audio becomes out of sync, but the video plays through smoothly. If I do the encoder first then I get these hiccups in the video where the audio and video lock up for just a split second. Im new to this so I am not sure what is going on. Surely there is some way to upload my recorded video without having skips or audio desync. I have a Ryzen 5600X
