Smallest video output

Post by WebWeaver64 »

Description of problem or question:
I'm trying to get the smallest output file size of a video. The quality of the video is secondary to the audio and size. I'm not sure where to start with this, which preset would provide the smallest size. I've read through the documentation and quite a bit of the forum, but I'm not finding the answer to my situation where the video is the last important piece.

I've been using fast however I'm thinking maybe I need to use one of the slower presets.

Instead of just trying to find the best option, I thought I'd check-in here to see if there were suggestions.

Thanks!

Your source video is already compressed x264 720p at only 1 Mbps.
Recompression at this point would result mainly in lower quality, not lower size.
So you may not be able to realize your expectations from a physical standpoint.

If you don't care about the video, select a screen size of 320x240, and pass the audio through.

Do you want the video to be viewable?

Drop the video resolution as low as it will go, and set the quality (RF) target in the mid 40s.
