Converting to aac

Post by Fargotroniac »

Hello,

I have a question. When I converting Blu-Ray disc to mkv I set audio codec aac. Blu-Ray have a DTS or AC3. Handbrake automatic set bitrate for aac, but smaller than have a DTS or AC3. It is ok for quality setting?

Before i use AC3 for audio, but now i need working with aac. But i don't know good bitrate setting for aac. :/

Thank you. :)

The target bitrate will depend on whether your original audio is stereo or surround. That's why we require encode logs before attempting to answer such a general question.

Original audio is AC3 5.1 448 kb/s. In ACC is quality 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 or bitrate 160 kb/s, 320 kb/s? I looking for equivalent of AC3 for AAC. No upscaling, no downscaling. :)

Also, at this time, the quality of AAC varies between Mac and everything else, so that enters into the equation. But, if you match the mix-down channels to the source, the bit rate chosen by default should work out.

Is there a reason you must convert AC3 to AAC?
