streched video how2 16:9?

Post by Yellydog »

Description of problem or question:

Looking for a solution for my problem I stumbled over Handbrake and am asking myself how this will work. Afore I have to mention, that I‘m an absolute newbie on the topic, so I really hope to get some help here.

I recently got the DVD „The man who wasn‘t there“. The DVD is PAL, the PAR is 1.85:1 Since I don't own a DVD player anymore at my TV I ripped the movie using [Removed Dubious Product Reference] Video Converter on my mac. Problem now is, the movie's vertically streched. Using the vlc player I'm able to change it to the 16:9 format and everything's fine.

However, now I'm asking myself (and you of course) how I canchange that permanetnly so that I'm able to put the movie on a usb drive and can watch it on the tv. Can I do that with handbrake and if so, how are the correct settings for that?

Sorry for my somewhat naive language, but as mentioned before, I'm a newbie and absolutely no idea of the matter. Any help would be greatly appreciated and many thanks for your patience.

HandBrake version: 1.33

Operating system: macOS 10.14 Mojave

Need the log from the encode, not a scan of the file.

In HandBrake, try selecting anamorphic Custom and setting the pixel aspect ratio (PAR) to 1:1
