MP4, M4V, M4a confusion

Post by thepixy »

Description of problem or question: Why does Handbrake seem to indicate MP4 as a default output file type, but offer to save as "M4V"

HandBrake version 1.3.3:

Operating system and version: Windows 10 Creators, 1903, 64bit

There's a preference for it, depending if you have devices that require either.

Thanks! I understand now... apparently because of the way AC3 audio is passed through, Quicktime will have a problem with MP4. I'm learning! At least there is a setting for it!
