Handbrake ppa not working with newest ubuntu ("no release file")

Post by AllesMeins »

Description of problem or question:

I tried to add the handbrake ppa on my system to get the newest updates. Unfortunately it fails with this error

Code: Select all

E: The repository 'http://ppa.launchpad.net/stebbins/handbrake-releases/ubuntu focal Release' does not have a Release file.
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.
Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):
do "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:stebbins/handbrake-releases" on the newest ubuntu.

Operating system and version:
Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

Or you can follow the instructions here
https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/1.3.0/deve ... linux.html
and build it yourself, it's very easy and takes about 5 minutes
