No Subtitles since Catalina

Post by phild44 »

Description of problem or question:
I have not been able to get subtitles to appear after ripping a DVD since I started using Catalina. When I select Subtitles using QuickTime, I get "None". If I use the Apple TV app, i get the same result. However, if I open the file with VLC the subtitles are available. his is of no help since I want to use my Apple TV for viewing.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.3.0

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):
macOS 10.15.2 (Catalina)

QuickTime can't playback DVD bitmap subtitles. If your DVD has a closed caption track, HandBrake can convert it to a subtitle tracks that can be played in QuickTime, if not, you can use Subler to convert the VobSub tracks to text tracks.

Thanks for the reply. How do I setup Handbrake to convert the close captioned track to a subtitles track?
