Before transcoding. Asks me if I want to overwrite the original file. Then gives me a one second new file

Post by 11david »

Description of problem or question:

Before transcoding. Asks me if I want to overwrite the original file. Then if I do, it gives me a one-second new video file replacing the original. I've restarted my computer, uninstalled and reinstalled HandBrake. It all worked correctly three hours ago. Now it doesn't, except for once, then not.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):

Choose source file, and destination. Change fps and constant, not VFR. Then press the start button. A drop down appears, "A file already exists at the selected destination. Do you want to overwrite /Users/ etc....? When I do, it creates a one-second file, replacing the whole original file.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.2.2

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

MacOS 10.14.6

Pick a destination filename that is different from your source file name. Otherwise the source is overwritten (as it warns you!) and then there's no more input to read so encoding ends.

I thought I had tried that, but clearly didn't, as it worked this time from your suggestion. I really appreciate it. Thank you.

So you try to save a new file, with the same name as the source file, then wonder why there's a problem? Even after you were warned?

This has got to be a joke right?
