HandBrake crashes during startup

Post by tristanbay »

Description of problem or question:
Get an error message when I try to start up HandBrake. This only started today/end of yesterday and did not change my version of HandBrake or Windows. I tried restarting my PC and reinstalling HandBrake and these did not make the problem go away. HandBrake crashes before it starts creating the Activity Log in AppData, so I don't have one here.

HandBrake version:
1.2.2

Operating system and version
Windows 10 Home v1809

HandBrake Error Message
An Unknown Error has occurred.
System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'HandBrake.Interop.Interop.HandBrakeUtils' threw an exception. ---> System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

Did you read the "Notice" message, NOTICE: Read Me if HandBrake won't start?

I went and checked it out, now. I've installed the 2019083001 nightly build and seems to be working fine, now.

Here's the activity log after I imported a video (when I start up HandBrake, it just creates a blank file to start with first):
