converting mpeg4 to mpeg2

Post by jorsak1968 »

Description of problem or question:
I'm trying to convert an mp4 file to mp2 to run on TV. The station needs mpeg-2 and 48k sample rate. When I use the Mpeg-2 codec on the video tab, it always comes out saying it is mpeg-3 format.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):
Setting the video codec to MPEG-2 on the video tab
on the Audio tabe, I click on selection behavior and set the sample rate to 48K

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):

1.2.2

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):

"mpeg2" can refer to the codec and the container. Do you know more details about what your TV expects? What container(s) does it support? What codec(s) does it support?

Changing the extension to .mp2 doesn't change the fact that you've made an MP4 (.mp4) video file.

If you're familiar with the command line, you can use ffmpeg to change the container after using HandBrake:

Code: Select all

ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vcodec copy -acodec copy output.mpeg
Though, I'm not sure AAC audio is supported in MPEG-PS.
