Can't scan "The Hunt for the Red October"

Post by nemesyssoft » Sat Jan 12, 2019 8:42 pm

Description of problem or question:
I did rip the DVD with RipIt latest version. I was able to play it in DVD Player from the ripped version. When I open it in Handbrake, Handbrake starts scanning and then stop about halfway through. I let it run for 20 minutes and there were no progress.

Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable):
Try to open a ripped version of The Hunt for the Red October.

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):
Version 1.2.0 (2018122200)

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):
Mojave 10.14.2 (18C54)

HB doesn't support commercial (encrypted) DVDs.

Rip with a tool for that purpose, like MakeMKV.

The vast majority of commercial one are yes. HandBrake isn't a ripper so can't remove it. Hence the need to run a 3rd party tool first.

OK, I did rip it with RipIt like I usually do, which usually removes the copy protection. I guess it didn't. I finally got MacTheRipper to the rescue.
