Can handbrake fix a DVD error during conversion?

Post by curtisday »

Description of problem or question:
Basically I have this tv show DVD I'm backing up and the DVD has an episode with an glitch where at 10mins and 31 seconds in to an episode the dvd quits to menu. It happens every time at the same time in the episode. If I skip ahead past the place where the glitch is, the rest of the episode plays fine. The disc is in immaculate condition. If I rip the ISO in terminal on my imac the issue is duplicated in the ISO and when I rip the specific episode handbrake will only rip it to 10:31. Is there anyway to get handbrake to do something to "fix" this issue in a way that will let me rip the full episode?

HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0):
1.1.1

Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Windows 10 Creators Update):
macOS 10.13.6 High Sierra

Concatenate the corresponding VOB files after ripping, then feed that to HB for conversion.

Due to the size limit on VOBs, the episode may be one or more VOBs.

I would try MakeMKV to see if it can work around the problem first.
