Latest Version 1.1.0 (2018040700)

Post by SisterAnne »

During all of 2017 I was so grateful to use Handbrake to compress my homemade IMovie videos for YouTube.
I found some online advice and the results were excellent when I slightly modified the default settings this way:
Picture:
I set Anamorphic to: Loose + 2
I set Custom: 0 on all four sizes
I left "Keep Aspect" unchecked
I changed to YouTube dimensions: 1920 x 1080
Audio -- Bitrate = 320
Video -- I set the constant to 20
I checked: Web optimize
The recent update/upgrade has more options yet nothing I did would allow me to specify the required YouTube dimensions. The default settings produced a fuzzy, low-quality video. Can someone please guide me on what information to type in? Thank you!

Strange how much effort people put into compressing video for YouTube when YouTube is going to recompress it once you finish uploading it...

Have you tried the YouTube presets that come with v1.1?

I'm stunned by the prompt response in this forum. I apologize for not understanding the difference between community support and community forum. I'll look for the YouTube presets, and if I can't figure that out, I'll try to post to the activity log. Thank you everybody! Handbrake Team, I'm not even sure how to answer "what platform?" I'm running a MAC in 10.10.5. If I upgrade any further I'll lose my entire Creative Suite. I can't afford to subscribe to the CS cloud.

You answered correctly. Platform is OS and version. Since HandBrake supports multiple OS and OS versions, it helps to know what you are running it on. Each platform's GUI is slightly different as they each cater to the OS they were written for. An activity log also answers this question for us which is one of the reasons we ask for them with every support request.
