Half way through movie - Black screen - Audio only

Post by vedivan »

Hello,

I have been using Handbrake to move my DVD's onto a hard drive for over a year without issue. Recently I had a couple of instances where about half way through the movie, the screen goes black, and all I have after that is audio. Any idea what may be causing this?

I'm using version 10.5.0 64 bit

Win 10

What are you using to decrypt the disks?

What are you using for playback? Is there a difference if you jump past the point where the video goes away?

Looks like HB is having issues reading the disc, try ripping with makemkv first then feed the output to HB.

Woodstock - AnyDVD to decript. For playbac I've tried WMP, and my TV. No difference by jumping to last point.

Rollin_eng - I'll give makemkv a try. Thanks

Rollin_eng - Tried makemkv. It doesn't seem to be capturing the movie. Just the extras. Any ideas?

With MakeMKV, you can choose which video segments on the disk will be extracted. Make sure to check a big segment (there may be several, for multiple language versions of the movie). Extra features will be smaller and/or have fewer audio streams.

If you checked everything, and the movie was not among the results, or if there was no "big" video segment to choose from, the disk is probably not readable.
