New major version of x265 is out
New major version of x265 is several days out. Is the support in HandBreak on the way? Some ETA?

Re: New major version of x265 is out
OK, so is there an interest of the HandBreak developers in the new major version of x265? (As there is no question that there is sufficient reason to do so.)
And if there is an interest of upgrading to x265 2.0, how long does it approximately take? (A week or two? Or a month? So can we know some ETA?)

Re: New major version of x265 is out
Handbrake uses libav, so when there is a stable release, it will find its way into Handbrake.
Re: New major version of x265 is out
We do use x265 directly., not through libav. Either way, even if we eventually leverage libav's wrapper, we can still upgrade libx265 independently from libav.
As for upgrading x265, be patient. It'll land in the nightlies as soon as one of us finds time to write the patch and (equally important) give it at least some rudimentary testing.
As per our policy, linked to by rolling_eng above, I shall now close this thread.
