Handbrake not compressing properly

Post by TanikasMisadventures »

Hello!

I make videos for Youtube yadda yadda

Sometimes after i produce a video and compress it by handbrake, the file it
turns out is a MP4 file, BUT no video, it acts like an MP3 file. Does
anyone know what went wrong?
It will always be the file for that video, even if i produce it and
compress it multiple times.

And yet i do nothing different from my other videos, same thing. Its
happened to about 5 of them so far

Your file should have a video and audio track according to the muxing report at the end of the log snippet.

Yeah, I don't know why there is no video track in the completed thing.

I dont know if this helps, but when i upload the file like that to youtube, it has video, however it is cut off at the sides and has weird quality settings on it (eg 1440p or one was 4000-something)

Code: Select all

 18:10:04] + source: 1920 * 1080, crop (0/14/44/14): 1862 * 1066, scale: 1920 * 1098
Seems to be a glitch in the cropping and scaling, causing the output to exceed the bounds for 1080p. Try manually setting cropping to zero.

Thank you! Thats exactly what went wrong, as i put the same video in, the cropping settings automatically changed. I changed it all to 0 and it worked, i have both video and audio.

MP4ERROR: File size exceeded 4 GB; output unplayable. Enable "Large file size" to fix it.
Or run a recent nightly build, which will automatically switch to large file size if needed.

I checked that and it made a large file like 7GB and I wanted the file to be around atleast 3GB were the original file was but the sound wasn't right. So When I did checked the large File box it did convert the file successfully but when the large file isn't checked I get a video file that doesn't play at all and no video info.

If you want the resultant file to be less than 4GB, you have to adjust your parameters to give up either resolution or quality. Encoding to 720p would certainly get it under 4GB, and maybe increasing the RF to 22 would do it, but it varies with the source material.

You can experiment with how the various parameters change things by encoding a single chapter, rather than the whole film, and comparing the quality vs. size.
