Is there a Product GUID for DVD Movies?

Post by mike548141 »

Hi,

Like books I find many movies are released many times, sometimes with small variations, often with extra content. For example is my DVD the Australian, European or North American release. Is it a special edition, collectors edition or stock standard release etc...

I find bar codes and UPC can not be trusted, so I was wondering if anyone had some smart ideas about getting the true "identity" of your movie?

As I digitise my movies it would be good to know I exactly what DVD I have pulled the content from.

Thanks

That looks perfect thanks! Seems a perfect feature to add into HB, I may do a enhancement request to see if there is interest. It would seem to me (a complete noob) it would be easy for HB to calculate the fingerprint as it reads the source media and write the fingerprint(s) as an attribute to the destination media.

Thanks again
