[SVN4959] Converting Blu-ray video to H.264 (MKV)

Hello!

I am converting a video I created using Nero Video in 1280x720p.

The video is around 19 minutes long and right now it is taking around an hour to convert.

It says in the "Picture" tab:
"Display Size: 1280x960"

How can it be 960 and not 720?

To clarify, HandBrake autocropped 160 pixels from the left and right of your video reducing the resolution to 960x720. Then you asked HandBrake to scale up the width to 1280 (-w 1280 option in your CLI Query). The resulting size after scaling up is 1280x960 (multiply width and height by 1280/960)

Today I tried to convert the Blu-ray file to 25 fps using the latest SVN and it worked in my FULLHD TV (USB slot) but it still messes the height, because HandBrake makes it 960 while it is 720p and the width appears stretched

The Windows GUI for Handbrake is a wrapper for the CLI, that passes your settings to the CLI. While the GUI won't let you do everything the CLI can, it's not quite like the GUI for OS X.

What I don't understand is why it scaled the resolution height to 960 since it had already cropped it. If it was a 1920x1080p I would understand, but it is a 1280x720p.

Use strict anamorphic and don't crop left and right, and your video resolution will be 1280x720.

If I use strict mode it will become the same resolution as DivX Plus Converter:
(MediaInfo log regarding the DivX Converter file)
Width : 960 pixels
Height : 720 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 4:3

But, if the converter does it correctly, can't there be made an improvement in HandBrake in order to work the same way?

I am using the High Profile with some changes, that use "Loose" instead of "Strict".

I used Nero Video to create a high definition version of the powerpoint which I have to defend within a couple of weeks. I used my webcam to capture the audio.

In simple words, I selected the resolution of PowerPoint 2010 to 1280x720p and then saved the 40 slides as PNGs.

Then I used Nero Video to join the slides and the audio to simulate my defence in order to help me remember some details.

Yes, but for some reason, the UIs won't let you scale paste the uncropped resolution.

I'd say that's a bug, but if you want to take a look at the MacGUI code which controls that, be my guest… not pretty
