PC Intel Q9450 + XP SP3 = 96.78 H.264 preset

Post by ashlar »

Machine Type: PC hand built clone
CPU Speed: Intel Q9450 2.66
Number of CPUs: 4
Rip Format (MP4, AVI etc): from .vob on HDD
Encoder: H.264 + AAC + AC3
Video Size & settings: (640x480, anamorphic, deinterlace etc): 720x480
Quality / Bit Rate: ATV preset
1 or 2 Pass: default (64 bit MP4)
Min/Max or Average Frames Per Second (FPS): 89.67 min/96.78 avg

This system utilizes 2 RAID 0 on Intel ICH9R chipset utilizing 2 Raptor 10,000 RPM drives. I currently have 4 gig RAM. Keep in mind I had other programs running in the background including a queued news reader (newsbin pro), firefox web browser, itunes, and norton ghost running at the same time. The cores were pegged but I was able to move freely between programs with no problems or sluggishness.

RAM: 2GB G.Skill DDR2 800 (2x1GB)
OS: Windows XP SP3 + Updates (32 bit)
Rip Format: MP4
Encoder: x264
Quality / Bit Rate: 2500

HandBrakeCLI Version: 0.9.3 Snapshot 5 (SVN 1913)
Preset = PS3

HandbrakeCLI command line used:
HandBrakeCLI -i Y:\ -o C:\Seinfeld-S07-e06.mp4 --preset="PS3" --verbose --two-pass --turbo

DVD Source 1: Seinfeld - Season 07 - Disc 01 - Episode 06

Source 1 Avg FPS = 64.15

The source was an ISO on HDD2 loaded via Daemon Tools.
HDD1 = 250GB SATA Maxtor (one of my first SATA drives, will be replaced with a WD soon), OS drive, this is where I saved the output.
HDD2 = 1TB SATA WD, storage drive, this is where the ISO files are kept.

I have updated this post with correct benchmark results. As it turns out my original command line was incorrect. Sorry for any trouble or confusion and thank you jbrjake for bringing it to my attention.
