QX9650

Post by chris200x9 »

I was wondering with this CPU what kind of frame rate I could expect encoding h264 at 1500 kbs 640 x 480 with de-interlacing set to slower or slowest?

I have a stock speed q9650, and on my absolutely INSANE settings at full anamorphic resolution, I'm getting an average of between 16 and 22 fps (normally around 18). This is in a paravirtualilzed CentOS machine with 1024Mb RAM (it is allowed up to 2048, but does not seem to use it)

Settings are:

Code: Select all

-L -I -F -m -P -r 1600 -2 -T -e x264 -E facc -B 384 -R 48 -6 6ch -x keyint=240:keyint-min=24:bframes=7:subq=7:me=umh:merange=24:analyse=all:trellis=2:no-fast-pskip=1:no-dct-decimate=1:bime=1:brdo=1:direct=auto:weightb=1:vbv-maxrate=4200:vbv-bufsize=3500 -i /mnt/Storage/RipWrap/Encode/$SOURCE -o $DESTINATION
This was taken from a script I've been writing, hence the $SOURCE and $DESTINATION variables.

Average PSNR is about 43.3 for a low profile encode (it has to work on my Apple TV) at 1600Kbps. I'm running an encode right now, but I'll try to remember to come back and post something at some more sane settings. Do you have a preference which preset I choose?

PS
I've noticed that durring the first pass (I use turbo first pass, where most of these insane settings are stripped off) I get somewhere in the neighborhood of 120fps.
