CPU best practices for encoding?

Post by dax702 »

Are there any best practices or settings, like BIOS or elsewhere for getting the most encoding power possible from my CPU when encoding to x264 format? In other words, should certain settings be enabled/disabled for getting best performance? I have an Intel Core i7-2600k if that helps on an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO board. Thanks!

Setting one - LOTS OF COOLING. Don't skimp there. Without it, your BIOS will probably shut things down when the CPU overtemps from running at 100% for more than 30 seconds.

I have a good CPU cooler, and never had any problems thus far with overheating so I think I'm ok there.
