SSD-recommendation for handbrake (500GB)

Before I want to build a new pc, I want to see how much encoding gets faster with a SSD. I think I should pay attention to have fast writing. Can you recommend a SSD with about 500GB space? Which specs of the SSD are important for handbrake?

Does it make sense to have the input-file on another device than the output? Does it get a lot faster with 2 SSDs?

Unless you are encoding 4k movies in ProRes or DNxHD or another almost lossless format, a SSD is useless to HandBrake.

Hard drive speed won't really affect encoding speed.

Its mainly cpu bound.

As mentioned, unless you disable write buffering, the hard disk isn't going to change the speed of an encode. I regularly encode with both source and destination on a network drive while ripping to the same drive with MakeMKV, and the handbrake traffic is barely noticeable in the traffic. Where MakeMKV might be pushing 50% of network speed to the server, handbrake peaks at 5% on reads, maybe 2% on writes. And the RAM caching of data will take care of that on any decent-speed drive, spinning or solid-state.

You'll find that the disk throughput is rather low with a thought experiment.

Suppose you are encoding a blu-ray at 24 fps (same as playing speed). Its max data rate is 48 Mbps, or 5.86 MB/s. (And most blu-rays are below that.) If you manage to encode at 48 fps, then it becomes 11.72 MB/s. And so on.

Let's say the encoded file requires roughly the same rate, but for writing.

As you can see, these are well within a modern disk's throughput.
