Intel i7 4771 Ubuntu 13.10 64/Win 7 Pro 64

Post by Smithcraft »

Well, I sorta have Ubuntu working.

Test file is the 1080p Surround sound Big Buck Bunny. The source file is 906,906 KB, and the transcoded file is 437,329 KB.

What we all want to see: work: average encoding speed for job is 37.300724 fps

I did see it go over 50 early on. I was just using the Ubuntu system monitor so I wasn't able to check the temps. However the CPU cores fluxuated mostly between 90 and 95%, and once in a while would get up to 99, but I never saw any at 100%.

File size is a bit bigger than the i5 tests. Ubuntu is showing 448,410,471 bytes.

Here are the results from Windows 7 Pro 64bit.

Test file is the 1080p Surround sound Big Buck Bunny. The source file is 906,906 KB, and the transcoded file is 437,902 KB.

I used the High Profile preset and no other changes.

What we all want to see: work: average encoding speed for job is 36.024952 fps

About six and a half minutes for the encode. I did have my gadgets set up, and most of the cores were showing 100% but would dip down to the mid 90s at points. CPU temps were just shy of 80, with the first core a degree or two hotter than the fourth core.
