Re: Quad Core Q6600
I am using XP 32 bit and I have the Q6600 G0 and pretty much I never get over 50% CPU useage on all 4 cores
not sure why but thats what it is
it is although 33.4FPS for a dvd to avi with the 44min episodes 700MB each

Re: Quad Core Q6600
You won't see all 4 cores utilized unless your using H.264 and are not using de-interlacing.
Re: Quad Core Q6600
I get 330 fps average ripping a dvd, with:
HandBrakeCLI -i /dev/cdrom0 -o test.mp4
Machine Type: Intel Core2 Quad, 4Gb RAM, 512 MB Nvidia 8400GS, Ubuntu 8.04 x86_64
CPU Speed: 2.4 Ghz
Number of CPUs
Rip Format (MP4, AVI etc)
Encoder:
Video Size & settings: (640x480, anamorphic, deinterlace etc)
Quality / Bit Rate: standard no options passed
1 or 2 Pass: standard, no options passed
Min/Max or Average Frames Per Second (FPS): 330 fps ave
Any other comments you desire: I'm trying to figure out how to create presets or copy my presets from my mac (handbrake gui) to it.

Re: Quad Core Q6600
Ver 0.9.2
Q6600 @ 2.4 G0
8 Gb G.skill DDR2 800
WD Raptor 74
Vista x64
Apple TV settings w/ no modification (for easy compare)
avg 72 fps
Much faster than my single core A64 3700+!
Planning on OC'ing to 3.0/3.2 soon, ill repost w/ new marks.

Re: Quad Core Q6600
Just got an HP with the Q6700 (2.66GHz, 8meg L2)
PS3 preset I get between 95-127fps.
Its pretty amazing. iPod / PSP presets as h.264 are in the low 300 fps.
Nice work optimizing to the developers of HandBrake and x.264
All 4 cores are Pegged during the transcode.

Re: Quad Core Q6600
I'm using a Q6600, 2GB RAM, Vista 64 and the PS3 preset with no changes. I hit 99% on all 4 cores, but I only get an average fps of 45. Is there something I can modify to get a higher fps? I'd rather not experiment with overclocking.
Re: Quad Core Q6600
Mac OS X 10.5.6 on GA-EP45-DS3R motherboard with Q6600 2.4GHz stock processor and 2GB RAM (RAM is probably irrelevant to my results)
Handbrake 0.9.3 using Apple Universal Preset
DVD: Charlie Wilson's War straight off the DVD
Speed: ~39 fps with all cores consistently over 95%. I did some e-mail and web browsing while it was encoding, so it wasn't fully optimal, but probably pretty close.

Re: Quad Core Q6600
Windows Vista 32-bit on GA-P35-DS3L motherboard with Q6600@2.4 and 4GB OCZ Reaper RAM (1066).
Handbrake 0.9.3 using High Profile Film Preset
DVD: Planet Earth - Blu-ray
Speed: ~7 fps with all cores consistently over 95%. PC was generally left to encode.
Edit: Just realized that my ram is currently OC'd (1066) but my cpu is currently at 2.4 (not the 3.2 I originally listed).
I must have bumped it back down for some reason. I may bump it back up and see how that impacts encode times.
I know I can easily get it back up to 3.0.
